Prince Albert and Princess Charlene gave Monaco some wonderful news on Friday. The Royal couple are expecting a baby. Making an official announcement, the couple announced the pregnancy before the media even had time to spy a baby bump. According to the “Today” show on Friday, this is the first child together for the expecting couple.
Prince Albert, 56, is the son of Prince Rainier and the late Princess Grace. The royal has been seen over the past few months at different functions, but there was no indications of this surprising family news. Charlene is a former Olympic swimmer from South Africa. Falling in love quite quickly, they offered up a fairy-tale wedding when the couple married in 2011.
The brief statement announced by the palace was straight to the point. While it left out details on how far along Princess Charlene was along, it did mention that the baby is due at the end of the year. The circumstance of the news seemed very happy as the couple wanted to people to know what a special occasion it was for the couple.
With the traditions of the Royal family, this would be the couple’s first child together and will be first in succession. According to ABC News on Friday, Prince Albert has two children from previous relationships. However the older children a daughter, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, and a son, Alexandre Coste were born out of wedlock and cannot be heirs to the throne.
Since the couple has been married for several years, this means the baby will be in line to the throne and can expect to be treated like royalty. Hopefully in the very near future the couple will announce the gender of the child and other particulars for the world to know. It’s always very exciting to hear that there is a new royal baby on the way.
