A bible-toting priest hijacked an AeroMexico jetliner with 104 people aboard on a flight from Cancun to Mexico city. Just as the plane was landing, Jose Mar Flores Pereira, a 44 year old Bolivian priest who has resided for 17 years in Mexico, showed flight attendants a contraption (later revealed to be a juice can with lights attached to it) and told them he and three others were hijacking the plane. "
Christ is coming soon," he added. After a tense hour on the ground, Mexican police stormed the plane and led six men away in handcuffs. All the passengers and crew were released unharmed. Security forces later determined that no bomb had been aboard.
Only one man is still being detained. Father Pereira, who was later allowed to speak to reporters, said that his other three companions were "the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost." He also told authorities that he had had a divine revelation that "Mexico was facing a great danger and was threatened by an earthquake." He also made reference to the significance of Wednesday's date, 9/9/09, which, when turned upside down, could be viewed as "666" which some Christians regard as the "number of the Beast" mentioned in the book of Revelation.
Jose Pereira is a former drug addict and convict who testifies about how accepting Jesus Christ turned his life around.

It's misleading to call that hijacker a "priest." He might be a self-styled preacher, but I haven't seen any evidence that he is ordained by any church.
Maybe, Leo. The story is still new so more information may come out later. It's not that hard to get ordained though. I, an atheist, have a minister's license myself. I got it from the Universal Life Church. You can get one too if you send them a check. And let's not forget that Kent Hovind, the well-known 'creation scientist' currently serving a 10 year stretch in jail for tax evasion, also has a 'doctorate of divinity' from a mail-order religious diploma-mill.
just curious,
what agency made the arrest?
Hello Z One Flow. I've checked several news services and none of them say anything more specific than "police."
If the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost were involved in the crime: shouldn't warrants and wanted posters be put out, seeking their arrest?
Hello skeptici. Would that be 3 warrants or just one?
;)
