Spoiled today Oct. 17, 2013 in an article by Adam Styborski on DailyMTG.com, Price of Knowledge is a powerful new "Magic: The Gathering" card from "Commander (2013 Edition)." This rare black enchantment will can deal a massive amount of damage to your opponents over the course of just a couple turns.
Price of Knowledge - 6B
Players have no maximum hand size.
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, Price of Knowledge deals damage to that player equal to the number of cards in the player's hand.
Using Price of Knowledge effectively relies upon all your opponents having a massive amount of cards in their hand. This lends Price of Knowledge to "group hug" decks with Howling Mine effects in them. One idea would be to use Price of Knowledge with Nekusar, the Mindrazer as your commander. Nekusar, the Mindrazer makes it so your opponents take damage when they draw, just in case they get an answer to your Price of Knowledge.
Nekusar, the Mindrazer's color combination is ideal because you'll have access to mass draw effects like Whispering Madness or Jace's Archivist. Red lends itself naturally with Wheel of Fortune, Molten Pysche, and several variants that'll ensure your rivals all have seven cards in their hand when it's their upkeep (if they haven't already died to Nekusar, the Mindrazer).
The only real drawback to Price of Knowledge is its steep mana cost, however in commander players fill their decks with expensive junk rares that didn't have a chance to shine in other formats yet are amazing in multiplayer games. Sounds like Price of Knowledge, right?
How will you use Price of Knowledge?
