With three days to go on the eBay sale of the piece of floor from the church hall where John Lennon and Paul McCartney met, the auction price's meteoric rise shows no sign of stopping.
Since Oct. 15, three days after the auction began, the price has risen from £750 ($1,198) to its current price of £1,750 ($2,829). The bids were at £52.59 ($84.00) at the end of the day Oct. 13, the first day of the sale, and rose £697 in its first three days.
Twelve bidders have participated in the auction so far, which will last 10 days. The block being sold, which comes with a certificate of authenticity, is one of several from a side room that was damaged in a fire in 2001. Those damaged blocks were saved and a limited number have been sold previously by the church.
The sale is being conducted with the church, which will get the proceeds of the sale.
