According to TSN on Wednesday, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price of Anahim Lake, British Columbia won a gold medal with team Canada in men's hockey at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi with an injury.
Price, according to Canadiens' head coach Michel Therrien, "aggravated a lower-body injury" at some point during the Olympic hockey tournament.
Team Canada head coach Mike Babcock, whose Detroit Red Wings ironically plays the Montreal Canadiens in Quebec this evening, was completely unaware of Price's injury. Price was stellar for the Canadiens during the Olympic Winter Games, going 5-0 with a 0.59 goals against average, .972 save percentage and two shutouts. Team Canada meanwhile won their second consecutive gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games.
The Canadiens, who are currently in third place in the Atlantic Division, will be going with backup Peter Budaj this evening against the Red Wings and possibly tomorrow night in Pittsburgh.
