It's turning out to be a banner summer for Sprinkles Cupcakes in Dallas. Last month, the Beverly Hills-based cupcake shop added the Cupcake ATM feature to its Dallas location, offering fresh cupcakes to cupcake-craving North Texans around-the-clock. On August 5, the company announced that Sprinkles Ice Cream would open adjacent to the existing Preston Center Sprinkles Cupcakes location on Friday, August 16, at noon. Founder Candace Nelson will be at the location to greet some of the first customers.
The Dallas location was an easy pick for an adjacent Sprinkles Ice Cream. Dallas was the site of the first Sprinkles Cupcakes outside California, and the company already ships more ice cream to Texas than any other state. The company initially announced Sprinkles Ice Cream would come to North Texas in October 2012 and spent the next several months renovating the North Dallas space in red and white corian in preparation for the first customers. Ten lucky Dallasites who visit Sprinkles Ice Cream on opening day and purchase a pint will win a $100 Sprinkles Ice Cream gift card. In addition to ice cream, the location will feature fresh baked cookies, brownies, and of course, Sprinkles Cupcakes inspired garnishes, toppings, and cones.
We'll be live tweeting from Sprinkles on opening day, where we'll get get the "full scoop" from Candace on how Sprinkles builds on the success of the cupcake craze by elevating another classic American dessert. Stay tuned!
