“The Young and the Restless” will pay tribute to the life of Katherine Chancellor with a celebration rather than a funeral. Longtime fans of “Y&R” know that this is exactly the way Jeanne Cooper, the actress who portrayed Katherine for nearly 40 years, would have wanted the writers to bid farewell.
According to an email dated Aug. 30 from a source at “The Young and the Restless” many former cast members have returned in order to pay tribute to the late, great and irreplaceable Katherine Chancellor. “The Young and the Restless” credits have been edited especially to honor the “Grande Dame” of Genoa City.
Michael Damien, who has portrayed Danny Romalotti off and on for many years, returns and sings “That’s When I’ll Stop Loving You” in the opening scenes of the Tuesday, Sept. 3 tribute. The celebration of the life of the fictional Katherine Chancellor seems to mirror the celebration of life of Jeanne Cooper, the actress who portrayed her.
Jeanne Cooper’s real life son Corbin Bernsen returns as Father Todd Williams and will preside over the celebration. Genoa City residents past and present will reminisce about their dear friend, mentor, mother and grandmother in the way she would want to be remembered.
In addition to Corbin Bernsen and Michael Damian, also returning to celebrate Katherine Chancellor are:
- Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell)
- Nina Webster (Tricia Cast)
- Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz)
- Brock Reynolds (Beau Kayser)
- Gina Roma (Patty Weaver)
“Y&R” fans will also be treated to an appearance by Jerry Douglas, who portrayed John Abbott until the death of the character seven years ago.
