When you think of Milla Jovovich you automatically think “action star”. With movies like “The Fifth Element”, “Ultraviolet” and the Resident Evil franchise under her belt, it’s not hard to see why. However, there is more to this actress than just guns and explosions. With two upcoming indie films that are set in Oklahoma, Jovovich reminds us that acting is about becoming someone else and making it believable. In her newest indie film, “Bringing Up Bobby”, she shows us her sense of mystery without the zombies.

Olive (Milla Jovovich) is a European con-artist looking for a better life. She wants to give her son, Bobby (Spencer List), a chance for something normal. Traveling all the way to Oklahoma, Olive and Bobby enchant their way from one stop to another. However, all good things must end, and when Olive’s past catches up to her and Bobby is taken away.

Bill Pullman and Marcia Cross co-star in this film, which is Janssen's directorial debut. It’s a story about love, family and doing what is right for the one you love, not necessarily what is right for you. Jovovich’s accent is charming and List seems like he’d fit right into a small Oklahoman town. Although Cross keeps her signature red hair, its color is toned down a bit. With bright colors and humorous writing, this is definitely something to look forward to seeing.

“Bringing Up Bobby” is currently circulating the indie film festivals.
