Have you heard of France's other electro phenom, Kavinsky?
Chances are you might. Kavinsky (Vincent Belorgey) burst onto the world music scene in 2006 with a series of EPs that sounded deliciously retro, like 80s action movie soundtracks. It turns out, it was meant to be that way. 2007's 1986 was a particularly fine piece of dance music, and led to a stint at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2008, if you were lucky enough to see it.
This year brought the release of Kavinsky's first LP, OutRun, produced by SebastiAn and named after a video game released by Sega in -- you guessed it -- 1986. Like Kavinsky's other releases, the album is a concept album based around the character of Kavinsky, and this character development is one of the most intriguing things about the music Belorgey creates. Also? So 80s.
Kavinsky is playing at The Fillmore in San Francisco on Monday, November 4th. Will you be there? This is a rare opportunity to see a unique artist and dance on a Monday night. Tickets are still available for $25. To find out more and to buy tickets, click here to go to The Fillmore's website.
