Some time ago, I wrote about how Google Maps Street View has expanded its scope to include trails.
One particularly noteworthy effect of this is that you can now use Street View to take a virtual hike through the Grand Canyon. You can follow the Street View imagery down a trail that leads through the canyon's famously rugged terrain, for an experience that's the next best thing to being there.
