Pretty up your day with handmade chiffon flowers.

This Elie Saab gown (shown at left) is absolutely breathtaking. It seems to be right out of a fairytale, hot off the wand of an exceptionally talented Fairy Godmother. Dreamy as it is, it's difficult to find its place in the real world. We are lacking in the Fairy Godmother department, and suffering from a serious shortage of royal ball invites, as well.

However, we can accessorize with just a touch of this fairytale magic. By compressing an entire look into a versatile, little accessory, we can bring the pretty wherever the day takes us.

The central element of the Elie Saab gown are those amazing flowers. Let's virtually pluck one of those lovely little blooms and turn it into a easy to wear accessory.  The example has been attached to clip, making it easy to wear in your hair or clip on to a belt, scarf, neckline or bag. It could also be sewn directly onto a top or dress.

Materials and tools:

chiffon fabric

metal clip

upholstery thread

button, bead or gem for center of flower.

needle

scissors

candle

Directions:

Cut circles out of chiffon in the desired size of your flower. The flower shown is made from 4 large, 2 medium and 1 small chiffon circle. The circles do not need to be perfect.

Make 4 cuts, evenly around the edges of the circles.

Use the candle to melt to edges of the circles, all the way around.

Stack the circles from largest to smallest. Sew together through the center. Sew on the clip, if using. Add the button, bead or gem you have chosen for the center.

Prepare to work your inner princess.
