Warning: If you do not want to know "Pretty Little Liars" season 4, episode 16 spoilers, then stop reading.
The official synopsis reads,
"Shana returns to Ravenswood to tell Emily that she has a message from Ali, but can Emily and the girls trust Shana with all that they know about her? And when Shana ups the stakes and says that Ali wants to meet Emily — and only Emily — could it all be part of an “A” plan, or is Emily really Alison’s favorite? With Emily becoming more hopeful by the minute, Spencer is determined to not let her friend get hurt. Meanwhile, Aria and Hanna deal with matters of the heart."
Shana seems untrustworthy and to believe her is a gamble. If Emily does go to meet Ali and it turns out it is a trick, then her life could be in danger. On the other hand if she refuses, they will be missing out on important information that could help them figure out who "A" is.
Viewers already know what matters of the heart Aria is dealing with. She is secretly seeing Ezra, but with everything fans know about him, is her life in danger? Jake is going to question Ezra's motives, but will she finally see clearly?
As for Hanna, she is having a hard time dealing with her and Caleb breaking up. Could her matter of the heart involve her still dealing with it or will she get a new love interest? The latter seems likely since a sneak peek clip showed her and Travis getting closer.
Last but not least, the girls are going to walk into a dark room and Spencer, holding a field hockey stick as a weapon, notes that there seems to have been a struggle. There is a broken window and a bloody shirt, which Aria says she could see Ali wearing. As they debate whether Ali escaped or if "A" grabbed her and where she could be, they come across a note that reads,
"You're too late."
"Pretty Little Liars" season 4, episode 16 will air on Jan. 21.
