"Pretty Little Liars" is a television phenomenon. The four young women that play Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer are role models for teen girls around the world. Troian Bellisario plays Spencer Hastings and shares plenty in common with her on-screen character. According to a Jan. 8 report from E! Online, Troian Bellisario opened up about battling an eating disorder and self-harming during her teen years. Bellisario decided to be honest with readers of "Seventeen" magazine.
Troian Bellisario's co-stars on "Pretty Little Liars" have all tweeted about her article and openess. Lucy Hale who plays Aria Montgomery knows exactly what Bellisario went through because she had been there herself. Bellisario was the youngest daughter and felt all the pressure on her shoulders growing up. She describes how she used checks and balances to reward herself but it made things worse. Now that she is 28-years-old, Troian Bellisario admits there are still struggles and some days are better than others.
In a world tainted by skinny girls and pretty faces, Troian Bellisario is someone young girls can relate too. "Pretty Little Liars" is a show watched by women of all ages and these girls are role models to so many. Fans can watch "Pretty Little Liars" on the ABC Family channel Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. CST.
