Dry cleaners gives back to the community to show gratitude

(Scottsdale, Ariz.) – It’s been said that all that glitters is not gold, but at Prestige Cleaners 50 years of glowing service challenges that claim.

From March 1 to April 30, Prestige’s customers are encouraged to visit any of its eight locations to participate in the “Golden Giveaway.” Customers can fill out an entry for the chance to win free dry cleaning for a year. The second place winners will earn a visit from a personal stylist to arrange and organize their closets, along with $50 in free dry-cleaning. Third place winners from each location take away $50 in dry cleaning and $50 in alterations. The promotion is Prestige’s way of thanking its loyal customers for half a century of business.

“When we opened in 1964 Prestige Cleaners made it a goal to give back to a community that has given me and my family years of generosity and loyal business,” said Donn Frye, CEO of Prestige Cleaners. “The Golden Giveaway is just our way of saying thank you to the community for 50 years of patronage.”

Prestige Cleaners opened its doors on Scottsdale Road and Camelback in 1964, when there were only five scattered dry cleaning businesses in the whole city. Today, when flipping through the Yellow Pages there are well over 400 similar establishments in the area—an 800 percent increase in competition. Yet, Prestige Cleaners is still thriving and expanding.

The family-owned business withstands the test of time by offering services like drive-thru drop-off and pick-up windows, lockers available for clients to have access to their clothes 24/7 and by delivering freshly pressed dry cleaning to their clients’ homes or offices. They also were the first to use an alternative solvent for cleaning that has won awards by the EPA for being economically friendly. In addition, even with the struggling economy, Prestige hasn’t raised prices since 2007.

After being asked what the key is to his longevity and success of 50 years in the dry cleaning business, Frye responds: “Surround yourself with the best people. It’s all about the people.”
