The McAlister’s series, authored and created by Richard Marman now debuts its third book in the series McAlister’s Spark. To date The McAlister’s series is a set of three books McAlister’s Way, McAlister’s Hoard, and McAlister’s Spark, in which Zach McAlister tells his Grandfather’s (Danny McAlister) story and later forges his own.
In McAlister’s Way, the series begin with fifteen year old Danny McAlister who escaped from his boarding school in search of his father who was lost while fighting the Japanese on the Kokoda Track. His quest took him as far as to the New Guinea Highlands and the islands in the Bismark Sea, where he met Angela and discovered the secret of his missing father.
The story continues in McAlister’s Hoard in which Danny McAlister, who had found his father George, lives on a tropical island in his Dad’s hotel in the South Seas. After escaping Frenchy Duval and his band of pirates just months before, Danny and his girlfriend Angela once again found themselves in another perilous adventure with the French pirate as they tried to rescue a young boy’s family who were kidnapped. The story deepened however, when they must embark on a wild treasure hunt through the jungle and beneath the sea to find a long hidden treasure to pay the ransom to save their friends.
Zach McAlister, Danny's grandson, embarks upon his own story in McAlister’s Spark, and forges a legacy well into the future. In McAlister’s Spark, the world as we know it is destroyed by a passing comet; and civilization comes to a grinding halt. With a global blackout and all nuclear power plants dead, the inhabitants of earth must learn to survive in their new 'back to the stone age’ environment.
Seen through the eyes of young adults Zach McAlister, Mike Farrow, and Karen Davenport, it’s a story of survival of the fittest, collaboration, and friendship. They work together to help keep the peace, restore order and to ensure survival.
Generations later, from the logs written by Angela, Karen, and Zach that were kept in the village local library, their descendants Raven and her brother Wombat longed to restore civilization to what it once was; at least to their part of the world. Then they stumbled upon a huge library filled with books which had all of earth’s recorded history. However, the guardians of the books, formed generations before, refuse to relinquish their hold on the sacred texts which had key information that could return ‘the Spark’ to earth's inhabitants.
