"Sugar" Shane Mosley is desperate for a fight with Manny Pacquiao and I have the evidence to prove it.
Below you will find a press release sent by the Entertainers and Athletes Group today at 2:43 P.M. Pacific Standard Time.
MANNY PACQUIAO ACCEPTS CHALLENGE TO MEET “SUGAR” SHANE MOSLEY IN MEGA FIGHT
Los Angeles, CA, June 3, 2009— Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao has agreed to meet WBA Welterweight Champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley in a mega-fight at a catch weight.
In an interview today with Filipino news organization GMA News, Manny Pacquiao agreed to Mosley’s dare to meet in the ring. “No problem, we can fight. As long we negotiate," Pacquiao said from his hometown, General Santos City.
Mosley countered, “Now that Manny has stated that he is ready to fight me, the only thing left to finish are negotiations. Richard Schaefer and Bob Arum are working out the details now. I will be ready to fight Pacquiao on October 17.”
Mosley has agreed to a 40-60 split and is willing to fight at a catch weight to meet Pacquiao in the ring.
Mosley last faced Antonio Margarito in January 2009 and delivered a ninth-round knockout. Pacquiao is coming off a second-round knock-out victory over Ricky Hatton in May.
Apparently Pacquiao made public comments about his willingness to fight and Mosley's representation took the ball and ran the rest of the 99 yards needed to score a Pac-Man touchdown.
It is clear that the release is just spin, and should be evident to any intelligent boxing scribe or media outlet, due to the fact it came from Team Mosley and not from Golden Boy Promotions -- Mosley's promoter.
When a fight is set and ready to go, the promoter will send out a release announcing the fight, not the fighter's personal management.
Mosley has been chasing Pacquiao, or any other star in and around the welterweight class, since he upset Antonio Marga-Cheat-O in Janurary.
After that surprising watershed victory, Mosley has told anyone who will listen,including myself, that he wants a crack at the pound for pound champion Manny Pacquiao.
Taking an opponent's words, twisting them in a press release, and making it seem like a fight between you and the said fighter is immanent looks down right desperate and bush league; two descriptors that have never been used to describe the ever-classy and gracious Mosley.
As fellow boxing thinker John Chavez wrote yesterday, Pacquiao vs. Mosley might make the most sense, but the media move Mosley no closer into the ring with Pacquiao.
Mosley deserves a fight with Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Junior, or Miguel Cotto, but this sort of press release does nothing but cheapen Mosley and make him look desperate.
For the record, promoter Bob Arum quickly nixed reports of the fight being close to finalized and stated Pacquiao will wait until Floyd Mayweather faces Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18 to make a decision on his October 17 opponent.
Bottom line, EAG's press release made Mosley look down right silly.

My favorite fight pick of the week goes to Michael Carbajal vs Humberto "Chiquita" Gonzalez I. If you have ever seen a world class flyweight fight end so suddenly and surprisingly? Even more importantly, have you ever seen Michael Buffer and Jimmy Lennon in the same ring again?

congratulations, he just made it look like he'd still take it if the split is reconfigured to 65-35 in favor of the pacman, at strictly 140 lbs., to.
at least you'll see more action on this matchup than you'll see in mayweather. but at the end pacquiao will come out victorious on this fight. mosley knows that he will not match up w/ skill and strength with pacquiao especially at this time of his career. He's way to old for manny. at the end it's all about his take home check.. i'll watch this in an asian supermarket where they show this fight in a big screen tv for free.
shane mosley bold and agressive interest to fight pacquiao is maybe cause by anticipation of pressure that will brought by cotto vs clottey and marquez vs mayweather result, and also aging. before that to happen he takes the gamble of catch and weight and deal sharing unfavorable condition to lure pound4pound in accepting and closing the deal very soon, after marquez mayweather jr matchup results. to block more choice option for manny.
Better save those $ for this fight rather than the jmm-mayweather.
I think catchweight is fair enough for both fighters to neutralize both advantage. We'll be having a good fight in October, nice.

For Manny Pacquiao in his size Fighting in heavier weight division that he is not suppose to belong TAKES ALOT OF RISK and COURAGE. Its not just Mosley taking risk here...REMEMBER MANNY PACQUIAO is a 135lb pound type of FIGHTER ^^. Manny is not just risking his pound4pound status here but also his HEALTH. FOR A SMALL GUY TAKING THE HITS OF the "WAY BIGGER GUYS" takes a lot of guts^^..but i think they should fight at 145lb to make it fair for both of them^^

This is one thing you love about Mosley. He is a true P4P fighter. He can move up and down the scales willing to fight the best! Fraud Jr is very disappointing. manny pacquiao is too fast and too furious for sugar shane mosley, its really a mismatch bout. some critics says that pacquiao-de la hoya fight is mismatch, i think this would make really a mismatch than de la hoya -pacquiao fight. mosley is not deserving to hit the canvas by manny, coz mosley is just being force to face manny because of ego and shame... i rather choose to see in action marquez-pacquiao III.

i beg to differ that it is a bad move. it's not the best move out there. 60/40 split is a bad share, but w/ a megafight like that when you're on the tailend of your career; that's 1st-runner up jackpot; especially Money May is not going to fight him.

this is not a bad move by mosley, its bold move in his favor to materialize his interest to fight pacquiao very soon in his prime or else mayweather or cotto matchup will come first before him. his intension in this unfavorable condition is to close the deal soon before july 18 result to minimize pressure for best choice option matchup on mannys camp. Still they will eventually match if not now and its favor for both of them. It will be the biggest fight for manny than oscar vs manny or ricky vs manny, because it is the heaviest title fight and contender for manny. Shane have advantages in terms of size, reach and experiences although they could match speed and power. mosley only disadvantage is age 30 vs 37, although his previous fight shows he still at his prime. let just watch and enjoy who's the best.

Mosley-pacquiao is a good match but people in the boxing world wants a decision match between manny and jm marquez. I took pity on jm marquez who keeps on trailing manny just to get money bcoz whoever faces manny receives a bulk of money.
Pacman vs Mosley will be an explosive fight. Never mind Mayweather, he is so protective of his record that he won't fight the best possible fighter available. Let him retire undefeated, who cares. If we will review his accomplishments in the ring after retirement he will never be as great as he think he is. I foresee that if Pacman defeats Mosley, Mayweather will Avoid Pacman in anyway possible. He will make excuses after excuses so the super fight will never happen. So Pacman will fight Cotto instead for his farewell fight. I hope Pacman also defeats Cotto so that he will be remembered as One of the Greatest of All Time....if not The Greatest.

What is so desperate about it. Mosley knows Mayweather is not willing to fight him so he chose Pacquiao. At least he has the guts to make the fight happen. No bs or whatsoever. I still hope they fight at 147 lbs though.
The writer is the infamous critic of PACMAN and thre is an obvious reason to believe that he will descredit and derail the possible fight between Manny and Mosley.
