The Presidential Inauguration 2013 schedule gets start on Monday, Jan. 21, which falls on the Martin Luther King Day holiday. The ceremony will have coverage both on television and live streaming online for those who want to watch President Barack Obama's official swearing in for his second term in office.
As reported on Jan. 20 by Inquisitr.com, the live stream feeds of the inauguration ceremony will occur on several websites. These will include the site Politico which will offer the ceremony live online through their website, and through iPhone or iPad apps. Both ABC News and Yahoo! News sites will also carry live streaming coverage as well, with iPhone and iPad apps in addition to their sites. Several other sites will be involved too including UStream, NPR, NBC News, Fox News and Reuters, all of whom will offer live stream broadcasts.
As for televised coverage, both CBS and NBC will begin coverage as early as 10 a.m. EST, with their programs lasting through 4 p.m. EST. ABC gets started a half hour earlier at 9:30 a.m. EST, while FOX will begin at 10:30 a.m. EST. CNN, FOX News and CNBC will all offer coverage of the event on TV as well.
The NY Daily News reported on Sunday that most of the TV networks will spend less time covering the event during this Barack Obama second inauguration. During Obama's first official inaugurations many networks ran all day specials well into primetime. However in 2013, there's some networks reportedly "slashing their coverage by nearly 40%" as the second time around comes with a country still in disarray, and with a slightly-less historic overtone to Obama being sworn in this time. Historically though, most second term inaugurations for presidents have had reduced coverage on television.
However, the ceremony must go on, and will still be available for viewing for all those interested who won't be in attendance in D.C. Local Roanoke viewers can watch on local affiliate stations such as WDBJ 7 for CBS, WSLS 10 for NBC, and WSET 13 for ABC in addition to CNBC, CNN and FOX News on cable or satellite service providers.
