Many of Tennessee’s elected officials are joining those from other States in vowing not to enforce President Obama’s latest round of executive orders on gun control issued in the last 24 hours, which many local sheriffs in various parts of the country are vowing that they won’t enforce if called upon to do so should the orders take the form of federal law. In a statement on Facebook today, Tennessee State Senator Frank Niceley (R-Strawberry Plains) posted a copy of the White House’s document explaining the President’s actions and said “ I think it is important that we all know exactly what we are opposing, as well as supporting when it comes to our Constitutional rights. This battle promises to be a marathon and not a sprint to the finish.”
The President’s orders won’t have present force outside of federal departments, but many fear the President would like to do much more. With some believing that the President’s latest orders might even force doctors to ask about guns as part of the Affordable Care Act.
