Schools: This is the big vacation week for many schools around the country, so the many of the kids are on vacation. Many towns and cities push their pickup schedule up a day when there’s a holiday and the pickup is canceled.
Federal and State Government: Most state government offices are closed. federal government offices are closed today, like the Social Security office and federal courts.
Stores: As far as retail stores, supermarkets and other businesses, they are open today, as this is a big shopping day with lots of President’s Day sales going on in the retail stores. Liquor stores are open in many states.
