When President Obama talks the dancing in Hollywood stops. Well, technically the dancing is taped delayed, but the scenario is exactly what the So You Think You Can Dance fans are facing on Tuesday. The competition is winding down and the dancers are in the middle of the action, but there are pressing world issues too. According to the Nigel Lythgoe, a judge on the show, there will be a viewing issue for some fans.
“At 9:00pm EST the President speaks. Fox will continue recording #SYTYCD and play it back IMMEDIATELY making the end of the show around 10:15?” tweeted Nigel Lythgoe from his official Twitter account on Tuesday. Letting people know the DVR could cut off the ending if the show is delayed, there is a major campaign to spread the word to fans to alter any recording equipment and remember President Obama will speak.
Of course there is no hostility with the idea that Americans want to hear what the President has to say, but the timing doesn't work out quite right for SYTYCD. Offering up a solution to delay and then continue the show after Obama’s remarks seems best. Not only does it respect the President, but it gives the dancing fans what they want to see too!
