President Barack Obama will turn 53 years old on Monday, August 4. He has chosen to vacation at Camp David during his birthday weekend. It’s the first time he has been to the Camp David retreat since he was there last year to celebrate his 52nd birthday, according to a UPI report on Saturday. Prior to his departure on Marine One, he played another round of golf at Joint Base Andrews.

The morning trip to the golf course with friends in suburban Maryland has become somewhat of an annual birthday tradition for Obama. This year, even though the skies threatened to open up and bring rains on his game, Obama and his friends completed an entire 18 holes of golf before the rains came. His accompanying friends were Bobby Titcomb, Greg Orme, and Mike Ramos. According to the White House, which revealed the names of the fellow-golfers, Obama has been friends with all of them since his childhood in Hawaii.

The White House claims that Obama and his team finished with the winning score in a field of eight other golfers. Also customary of the president’s doings on his birthday weekends, his three friends joined him on Marine One. They have gone to the presidential retreat in the Catoctin Mountains to Camp David with him. The other golfers – who have not been identified – as well as Cornell McClellan, President Obama’s personal trainer - are traveling to Camp David by automobile.

According to the Star Tribune, it is not known if First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha will be joining the president for his two-day get away from Washington, D.C. After the golf and downtime with his friends, he plans on returning to the White House on Sunday afternoon. Apparently, he will be at the White House on his actual birth date.
