President Obama's priorities are not in securing our schools.

DOEd and DOJ school security funding cut by President Obama

The funding priorities for the Obama Administration have to be questioned in light of revelations regarding the cuts to school security funding in 2011. In 2010, the Obama Administration spent almost $6 million to rebuild Islamic mosques in 55 nations.

As reported by Michael Yon, in 2011, President Barrack Obama ordered the renovation of Mullah Omar’s mosque in Sangsar, Afghanistan. The mosque had been destroyed in October, 2001 in a U.S. bombing raid.

As previously reported, the State of Connecticut did not provide monies from the $668.85 million received from DHS as homeland security grants to ‘harden’ the schools beyond the single point of entry and locked doors at Sandy Hook Elementary, and to provide for armed security. As reported in the Washington Guardian, it turns out, both the federal Dept. of Education and the Department of Justice both had programs to provide security funding designed to hire armed security for the nation’s schools. Congress and President Barrak Obama let those grant programs sunset in 2011, as a cost cutting measure.

Small in comparison to the DHS grant funding, the DOJ had three programs amounting to $1 billion in funding that provided funding directly to the schools for for training, equipment, and armed security. The last grants under these programs were made in 2011.

The DOJ programs were the COPS in Schools and the School Safety Initiative and the Secure our Schools programs. These programs were in addition to the DHS homeland security grant programs.

The DOEd’s program was the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) program that provided between $20 million-$30 million in grants to schools for emergency planning. The REMS program was also another program outside of the DHS homeland security grants program.

Both the DOJ’s programs and the DOEd’s REMS program were not renewed under the 2012 Obama Administration budget.

How did Adam Lanza manage to break into Sandy Hook Elementary and kill six staff and twenty students?

Ask the governor and Legislature of Connecticut, the police chief of Newtown, the mayor of Newtown, the city council, the school board, and the school superintendent, CT’s Congressional delegation, DHS, DOEd, and the Secret Service . . . and the good citizens of Newtown. Someone made the decision not to hire armed guards. Who was it?

With $668.85 million in DHS homeland security grants alone, the most precious asset of that town was left unprotected.

After $40 billion in DHS homeland security grants, the most precious asset of this country still remains unprotected, as every state has not protected their children first.

WHY?

There is armed security at banks that protects our money in the bank. Yet, our most precious asset, our chidren go to schools that are prime targets according to bin Laden’s 1998 fatwa, and the target of evil. Why were our kids not the first to be protected?

Adam Lanza was a terrorist. The threat of armed attack against our schools had been studied by the federal government. The threat was known. Why, after $40 billion in homeland security grants nationally, $668.86 million awarded to Connnecticut, was Sandy Hook Elementary and every school in Connecticut not protected? Why did the Obama Administration cut the DOJ and DOEd grant programs?

The Obama Administration mandated the renovation of Mullah Omar’s mosque, but cut funding to protect our kids?

Ask yourself why the Obama Administration’s priorities are to appease our enemies, but not to protect our children?
