President Obama quits smoking - he has not had a presidential puff in a year!

President Obama has quit smoking cigarettes! The leader of the free world is smoke free. The President has kicked the smoking habit, Michele Obama proudly professed while discussing a new health campaign she is promoting. President Obama has not had a cigarette in about a year, Michele Obama reports.

President Obama’s smoking habit was doomed, as long as he had his two daughters to answer to. Michele Obama said that the President’s main reason for giving up cigarettes was so “he could look his two girls in the eyes and say he does not smoke,” according to USA Today.

Anyone that has ever tried to kick the smoking habit knows it is tough. It is so tough that many will still sneak a puff now and then out of eye shot of the ones they love, so as not to disappoint them . Hopefully this is not what the President is doing. Chances are he has kicked the smoking habit 100%. When he makes his mind up to do something, he does it. It wasn’t too long ago that he was a little know Senator that wanted to be President!

Connecticut ex-smoker Pat L, says “that it is mind over matter,” after she was able to kick her pack a day habit after 30 years by just putting the cigarettes down and stopping cold turkey. This Connecticut lady is one of the lucky ones, where many find that even with the help of nicotine patches, gum, and medications to stop smoking, it is still an uphill battle.

    Define Yellow Journalism...if you can.

hey squirrell 1/2. Yellow journalism or the yellow press is a type of journalism that presents little or no legitimate well-researched news and instead uses eye-catching headlines to sell more newspapers. Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism. By extension "Yellow Journalism" is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion.

Very interesting topic. Maybe tomorrow you can report how many times in a week he takes a dump. Or what food his dog eats.

LOL @ the 2 comments before this.

The internet has effectively infinite capacity to host news stories. A lighthearted human-interest piece on a political figure isn't going to devour valuable resources. There's not a limited supply of news-trino particles. In fact, they could do a story on "what food his dog eats", and not hurt anything. As tiring as this sort of advice might be, it bears repeating: if you find a story isn't interesting you, you're welcome to stop reading it at any point.

The state of his lungs will never erase the fact that he is a major tool as a leader goes. We would have been better off with Flip Wilson as the first black president.

  • Michael 1 year ago

Oh, a tool, huh? Let's see you defend George W as anything less than the ULTIMATE tool. C' mon, show everyone how bright you are.

  • kdl 1 year ago

HA! Sadly, I have to agree. And odds are, if he says he has quit, he hasn't. Not that it's really newsworthy- no one is going to care if he smokes, plenty of politicians do. Hell, if I were in that job, I'd probably be a crack addict by now. Very difficult position. But yes, he's the worst president in history- worse even, than Carter, who is now doing his "YAY. I'M NOT THE WORST ANY MORE!" happy dance. Hurry up, 2012.

I changed my mind, the idiot Grayhane is so pathetic!

Well, good for him! I kicked 3 years ago but I've got to admit that if I had the opportunity to have a smoke with him I would not even hesitate.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

BULL. There's no way he wouldn't have put on 30 pounds by now. His Secret Service guys are charged with the added burden of helping him cover up the fact that he still smokes.

  • Dutra 1 year ago

Bingo! You nailed it. Unless there is another drug helping him keep the weight off.

  • Michael 1 year ago

Umm, smoking is an addiction. Some people gain weight when they quit because they just switch addiction to nicotine for addictive behavior pertaining to food. If one stops acting out the pattern of addiction, one doesn't gain weight. Don't be an addict chubs.

Then why does Air Force 1 smell like an ashtray?

smoking is dificult addiction to cure. As evidenced by some of the comments here and comments elsewhere, racism is impossible to cure

    Well said.

WHO CARES. Smoking doesn't make you less of a human being. It's a bad habit, sure. It can kill you, sure. But really, what can't? I'm so sick of hearing it.

Ignoring the condescending remarks I've read on this board, I say, "Congrats!" to President Obama. As a former smoker I know how hard it is to kick the habit. In a high stress situation such as the presidency, it must have been horrendous! Kudos to family and friends for putting up with your grouchiness while you were withdrawing from nicotine.

Wow, he expects us to believe that he's not going to sign any bills with earmarks, keep unemployment at 8%, not raise any taxes, give us all free medical insurance, and that he quit smoking???
