“The law is working: Already nearly 365,000 people across the country have picked private plans through the Marketplace and 800,000 more are on track to get Medicaid through their states. These are people for whom health insurance might not have previously been an option—people who in the past might have been discriminated against for simple medical conditions like asthma or who may have been dropped from their coverage just because they got sick,” Obama said.
As the December 23, 2013, deadline approached DC Health Link is asking all District of Columbia residents to seek health getting enrolled. Obama said it is HealthCare.gov that will ensure that every American is covered by January 1, 2014, if they enroll by December 23, 2014.
“We want to help people enroll. We are trying to identify problems with enrollment and to fix them. There is no attempt to cover up the problem. If any person is having problems enrolling we want to help them,” a DC Health Link spokesperson said.
District of Columbia residents have only three days left to enroll in health coverage that will be effective January 1, 2014. With this deadline fast approaching, places of worship in DC are gearing up for a busy weekend that will feature a variety of activities and events aimed at getting residents enrolled in a health plan before Monday, December 23, 2014.

Certified DC Health Link Assisters and Insurance brokers will also be on-site to provide enrollment assistance.
Faith leaders will also continue to push for enrollment from their pulpits and speak about the value of obtaining quality affordable health coverage. A source who asked not to be identified said that although there is no question that HealthCare.gov failed expectations. The problems with the website is being used to make Obama fail. This thinking has caused even greater confusion.
“The most important source of information about this law isn’t going to be me, or anyone here at the White House. It’s going to be you, telling the people you know to check out HealthCare.gov for themselves and make their own decision about getting covered,” Obama said.
