According to recent polling data President Obama does have more people who disapprove of his performance as president compared with the number of people who approve his performance as president. Two presidential approval ratings polls were released yesterday on Saturday, August 23. Gallup polling had President Obama with an approval rating of 41% while his disapproval rating was at 53% which is a difference of 12 points. Rasmussen Reports had President Obama with an approval rating of 45% compared to a disapproval rating of 53% for a difference of 8 points. On Friday, August 22 The Economist and You Gov conducted a presidential approval poll while on Wednesday, August 20 Reuters news agency and Ipsos also conducted a presidential approval poll. In The Economist/You Gov poll President Obama had an approval rating of 44% and a disapproval rating of 52% which is a difference of 8 points. In the Reuters/Ipsos presidential approval poll President Obama had an approval rating of 39% compared to a disapproval rating of 55% for a difference of 16 points which was the largest margin among any of the polls.
