President Obama is assumed to be the leader of the free world

Is this FDR or Kennedy?

The understandable pressure on the President of the United States to react to the fighting in Iraq and Syria is mounting. Top Republican officials are calling for some sort of clear move after days of attacks on the militants in Iraq and the beheading of American journalist James Foley this week.

The president was caught on camera laughing only minutes after condemning the barbaric death of Foley, riding in a golf cart in Martha’s Vineyard, MA. It brought back memories of similar anti-American incidents that presidents have faced from FDR and Pearl Harbor to John F. Kennedy and the Cuban missile crisis. They were most definitely not laughing or on a golf course with national media present.

Outraged Republican Congressman Peter King of New York said, "I don't see how we can defeat ISIS without going into Syria. I believe in massive airstrikes. This is not about Syria. This is not about Iraq, it's about our national security. The president has the obligation, if he is serious about going after ISIS, to go into Syria."

Rep. King is the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. His words may indeed be prophetic unless the president acts now. America needs to get President Obama, the leader of the free world, off the golf course and tending to the concerns of all Americans, which he was elected to do, period.

The angry noise grows louder as the president does virtually nothing aside from airstrikes at an enemy that fully knows it is time to cover and hide. Florida Rep. Ilena Ros-Lehtinen later told CNN that "I believe that the president should do that (meaning defeat this insurgence). "He should have done it when he first announced it when he said Assad has crossed a red line in the use of chemical weapons. “It was a mistake for us not to act then," Ros-Lehtinen said. "We cannot let this cancer grow." Ros-Lehinen was not alone.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey said that it was critical to defeat the militants. It doesn’t get any more serious than the general of all generals saying it is time to get this situation under control. "This is an organization that has an apocalyptic, end-of-days strategic vision and which will eventually have to be defeated. Can they be defeated without addressing that part of their organization which resides in Syria? The answer is no."

Is it is humanly possible for the protection of this country, hopefully someone can extract President Barack Obama from his golf cart and do the job he has been paid to do by the American people? We'll wait for Nancy Pelosi's diatribe about the unfairness of it all and Al Sharpton claiming racism.
