President Obama has been instrumental in helping the Christian faith recognize that Christian values and American values are really not the same. The skirt-tail of America has been pulled up and if the Christian eyes will open, they will see the naked truth.

America’s founding fathers did “use” some of the Judeo-Christian values as a foundation for morality in this country, which in reality is based more on man’s reason and common sense, but not necessarily Christianity as a whole.

When you borrow something from someone, you want to use it for your purposes and not the purposes of the one you borrowed it from. You want what you borrowed to represent your ideas, your agenda, or your purpose. The Judeo-Christian values were borrowed for the American purpose of freedom and liberty.

These borrowed values, therefore, were not meant to be used as authoritarian values to force individuals to live-out Christian values through a totalitarian-type rule, but for American values only. American values that support and protect the God-given rights of individual life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness according to the constitution, not necessarily the bible.

The most important aspect of American values are laid out in these words from the Declaration of Independence, not the bible: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness..."

What the founding fathers did was connect American freedoms with the biblical God as a way to say our liberties (both political and human rights) come from a higher source than mankind. American values combine and embed man’s reason, common sense, and some of the Judeo-Christian principles as support for our individual freedoms and liberties. These American values and liberties, however, do not represent or give a right to those of the Christian Faith to take a totalitarian approach that forces their beliefs on all Americans.

It would seem that the founding fathers would be in direct opposition to any kind of totalitarian behavior that infringes on certain liberties or rights that they felt originated from God and not man. Even if those rights go against the Christian Faith; they might not go against the American freedoms and liberties. No matter how people try to twist it, American values and Christian values are not the same. America supports the Christian Faith and there is a Christian Nation within America that is represented by people who follow after Jesus Christ.

If people of the Christian Faith want to change America, talking about or spewing hate against President Obama and his administration is not the way. The biblical example of how to change a nation is demonstrated by the Hebrew boys in the book of Daniel. The Hebrews boys simply stood up and lived-out their faith –even if it caused them to suffer- and because of their stance it changed the entire nation, including the leader. They did it without hate or violence, but by standing up for their truth.

America is a diverse society and melting pot for many different religious faiths, including the Christian Faith. American values support every religious faith. Therefore, in order to maintain a more Christian nation those of the Christian Faith alone, not the government or non-Christians, must sustain the integrity of the Christian lifestyle and culture here in America.

Surveys show that many Christians do not follow the practices and principles of their own faith and one out of three Christians admit to not following the teachings of Jesus Christ. No human being can legislate the human heart. If those of the Christian Faith fail to adopt the ways of Jesus Christ - which is critical to maintaining a true Christian culture - the blame will not fall on the government or its laws or non-Christians, but judgment will start with the household of (God) those within the Christian Faith.

The Hebrew boys in the book of Daniel didn’t spend all their energy on trying to change the laws, but they became a law themselves by what they stood for and believed in as a lifestyle. “They” were the difference that changed the nation in which they lived in and God supported, elevated, and promoted them.

It is a simple fix really. The bible tells us that “If MY PEOPLE, who are called by MY name, shall humble themselves and pray, seek MY face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and WILL HEAL THEIR LAND” 2 Chronicles 7:14
