Wondering what to do after the fireworks are over? I have the perfect thing. Head out to the Ford Amphitheatre on Saturday evening, July 5 to see one of New Orleans best...Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
Hot off their gig in Coachella and in the midst of a worldwide tour, the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band is known for playing traditional New Orleans jazz. The band brings a fresh take to this timeless sound, with original music from their latest album: THAT'S IT! I've seen them perform many times throughout the years and this is a a group, you do not want to miss.
To make this night even more musically memorable, is the opening act...The Dustbowl Revival, a Venice, California based collective, that combines old school bluegrass, gospel, jug-band, swamp blues and the hot swing of the 1930's which promises to keep you dancing in the aisles...
Just imagine Old Crow Medicine Show meeting Louis Armstrong's Hot seven Band in New Orleans or Bob Dylan and Fats Waller jamming with Mumford and Sons, on a front porch in 1938. Doesn't get better than that.
In its 2013 Best of LA issue, the LA Weekly called DBR the 'Best Live Band in LA'.
This joyous evening of music kicks off this summer's Zev Yaroslavsky and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, second Signature Series at the Ford,. which celebrates LA as a destination for world-class artists. All proceeds benefit the Ford Theatre Foundation.
The Ford Amphitheatre, located at 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East, Hollywood CA 90068, is one of my favorite concert venues.
This beautiful outdoor theatre, built in 1920, hosts a diverse roster of events throughout the summer, representing music and dance styles that reflect the communities that comprise Los Angeles County.
Plus it's a perfect place for a picnic. And if you don't feel like cooking, a variety of food and beverages can be purchased on site.
