Prescription eye creams for dark circles

Dark circles cast those awful shadows under your eyes that make you look like you haven't slept well in weeks. Thankfully, there are prescription eye creams designed to brighten up your eye area by lightening the skin or plumping up collagen. Collagen is a fiber that keeps your skin looking youthful.

Retinoid Creams

Retinoid creams are prescription eye creams that treat dark circles and even acne. You need a prescription to obtain a high potency cream that contains 7% or more of retinol. Retinol is a highly concentrated form of vitamin A. This medication also helps to reduce fine lines and other signs of aging. There are many brands to choose from. You can also find low dose retinol products at your local grocery store.

Hydroquinone

Hydroquinone is an eye treatment for dark circles under the eyes. Low doses are found over the counter, but the full high potency treatment is only available with a prescription. This medication is a bleaching agent that works by lightening the skin under the eyes. You can also use this eye cream to lighten other dark spots on your skin such as age spots or dark pigmentation.

There are some risks associated with this medication, so follow your doctors advice carefully. Using too much can actually cause the skin to become too light, creating an unnatural effect.
