Got Preschoolers?

Then you know that preschoolers are learning~ everyday and in everything they try.

Their learning comes from listening and looking!

Make certain that they are able to see as much physical activity as possible:

At the playgrounds
Sporting events
Local athletic games and practices
Professional sports
Televised sports: World Cup, Olympics, high school sports
Digital devices: videos to look and do!

If you are teaching or a parent or a caregiver, a simple series of illustrated and media enhanced [music and rhythms] will give you and your preschooler student of moving...daily lessons to practice. Preschoolers are love to practice a skills, over and over, and that repetition gives them mastery as well as excitement.

Try to use these lessons to give your youngsters a time for being active and gaining the fundamental movement skills that will be gathered into a whole program of movement skills and sports readiness training.

Each child should be taught to move their body in efficient ways. Some children can easily "look at someone else" and copy motions. Other children need to have an teacher/helper encourage the child to explore and try to move. In the process of trying different movement skills, a child will make some gains and then use the new skills to gain more mastery.

The acquisition of movements is just like building a building: a placing a series of little bricks in a logical progression to construct a Foundation for a lifetime of physical activity.

As you spend time with your child, consider these simple skills: Fundamental Moves and invent ways have play be the teacher:

Locomotion skills: skip, hop. jump, slide, gallop, walk: forward/backward, run.
Balancing abilities: one foot/two feet, one foot with free leg stretched forward/backward, balanced on different parts of the body.
Handling objects: light ones, odd shaped objects, kicking small balls, catching bubbles, waving scarves, ribbons, ropes, hoops and more...
Moving at different levels: ground, tip toes, in the air: jumping.
Being able to control the body in actions: starting motion, arresting motion, controlling the body while handling equipment.
