Vayishlach is an action-filled reading highlighting Jacob's famous wrestling match, the reunion of Jacob and Esau, the dispute over Dinah, the death of Isaac and a review of the genealogy of the twins. Use the following activities to help kids learn about the stories in Vayishlach.

Read the text for yourself in Genesis 32-36. See a simplified version of this scripture portion for kids at Akhlah.

Kids will enjoy coloring sheets that go along with the story while you read. Print a free coloring sheet of the meeting of Jacob and Esau and of  Esau greeting Jacob.

The genealogies in the Bible can be confusing, but they can enhance the understanding of subsequent stories. To make a genealogy mobile like the one in the picture, follow the directions below.

Materials:
Templates from Making Friends
Googly eyes and other craft decorations
Crayons
Coat hanger
Yarn
Glue

Steps:
1. Print the paperdolls and clothing templates from Making Friends.
2. Cut out as many paperdolls as you need for your mobile. This will depend on your genealogy of focus. You will need one cutout for the father and one for each child. If you are including the mothers of the children, then you will need one cutout for each mother.
3. Color the clothing templates and cut them out.
4. Decorate each person with clothing, googly eyes and other craft decorations. Write the person's name somewhere on the cutouts.
5. Glue the father to the hook of the coat hanger. If you are including the mothers of the children, you can place them along the sides of the hanger.
6. Glue a piece of yarn to the back of each cutout and allow to dry. Another option is to punch a hole in each cutout and string the yarn through the hole.
7. Tie each piece of yarn to the hanger and display. If you are including the mothers, you can attach the yarn of each child to the appropriate cutout. Refer to your mobile in later studies.
