Spring is here, which means summer vacation from school will be here before you know it. Soon children will be saying that there is nothing to do and they are bored.
Now is the time to start gathering up craft ideas to keep the children occupied. You can buy new craft items at the craft store, but there are cheaper ways to get crafting materials.
Go through your old jewelry. Contribute any broken jewelry to the craft pile.
Save all those empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls. Clean any small bits of paper products off of them and then put them into the craft pile.
Bottle caps from sodas, dish soap, oil, spices, and lids from any other empty containers. You can even save the containers themselves to use in crafts. just make sure all of the containers have been thoroughly cleaned first.
Hit the yard sales. Yard sales and garage sales are a treasure trove for the crafter. Look for old jewelry, holiday decorations, and even craft items. These types of things are generally very cheaply priced.
Don't forget to check the thrift stores, too. I have personally never gone into a thrift store that doesn't have at least a few crafting items for sale.
Check with family members, friends, and co-workers to see if they have any items that they would be willing to donate to your family for crafting purposes.
If you plan now, you will well prepared by summer with several activities to keep the little ones busy.
