Bay City State Recreation Area will host its Trunk-or-Treat program from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the day-use area of the park for three harvest festivals on Sept. 28, Oct. 5 and Oct. 12.
Each year, traditional trick-or-treating is available to campers, and this “Trunk-or-Treat” program allows non-campers to participate as well. Parents who are not camping can hand out candy, and bring their children to trick-or-treat in both the campground and the day-use area on these Saturdays. Parents wishing to hand out candy can set up their vehicles in the day-use area of the park near the new spray park. Children can collect treats from other parents in the day-use parking lot as well as from campers handing out candy in the campground.
A valuable prize will be given for best-decorated vehicle participating in Trunk-or-Treat, although parents are not required to decorate their vehicles. Participants are encouraged to bring enough candy for 250 to 500 children, though there is no required amount.
A park ranger will be stationed at the permit booth to provide information and collect the entrance fee for those who have not yet purchased the Recreation Passport.
