You have a sufficient water and food supply. You have an emergency plan and your family has practiced it. You have even taken precautions for your pets. You are prepared. But, is your business?
The US Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering free webinars during National Preparedness Month (that is, September) to help you prepare your business. The first webinar is scheduled for tomorrow, 11 September, and is titled “Protecting Your Organization by Preparing Your Employees.” On 18 September, the SBA will present “The NEW 10 Steps to Preparedness – Lessons from the Past.” The final session, “Crisis Communications for any Organization,” will be held 25 September.
Employees are the greatest asset of most businesses, if not all businesses. The first session will address the need to assist employees and their families not only recover after a disaster, but also prepare for them. Every successful business understands the purpose and value of reviews. The second session will review past disasters and address ways and suggestions to learn from those incidents. Recent disasters – like the Moore Tornado and the Boston Marathon Bombing – will be reviewed. The final session stresses the need for communications. Effective communication is a key element to any successful day to day business. It is essential in a disaster. Social media and its role in disasters will also be discussed.
Each of these free webinars is one hour, beginning at 2 p.m. ET on the announced Wednesdays. To register for any of the webinars, simply follow the links provided above by clicking on the individual titles.
