Moms and dads, mark your calendars and get ready. January 23 is National Pie Day so it's time to gather your favorite pie recipes to serve for dessert.
If you'd rather find some new pie recipes, Crisco can help. On National Pie Day or any day, you can visit Pie Central at Crisco's website to find recipes and tips for making pie crust. There's even a video offering step-by-step instructions for making the perfect crust.
According to the Pie Council, apple pie is the favorite pie of 36 million Americans, followed by pumpkin pie in second place and pecan pie in third place. If apple is your favorite pie flavor, you'll find plenty of recipes on the Crisco website. Choose from traditional apple pie, All-American apple pie, apple pie with a touch of orange or one of the other great apple pie recipes.
Caramel pecan pie is a wonderful variation to traditional pecan pie. The gooey caramel adds just the right touch of sweetness to the pecans. If this sounds like the pie to end your family dinner on National Pie Day, you'll love the fact that it can be on your table in under an hour.
