According to NY Daily News on Monday, expecting women are selling positive pregnancy tests on Craigslist as a way to make a little extra cash.
The most disturbing part is, there is a demand for these pregnancy tests. The buyers of the used devices, which sell on Craigslist for anywhere between $10 and $40, include women who want revenge on ex-boyfriends or want to play a practical joke, and even teachers looking to school students about teen pregnancy.
Moms-to-be from across the U.S. are reportedly asking for between $20 and $40 to hand over the devices that confirm they are about to become a parent.
One woman from Los Angeles said she wanted them to make a video on teen pregnancy for her local boys and girls club. Some ads suggest buyers use the tests to finally get longtime boyfriends to propose. Others suggest pranking mom and dad. And one even suggests asking for money for an abortion and then using it to go on vacation.
A potential buyer from Dallas said she wanted revenge on her ex-boyfriend who, after five years together, came home and said he'd gotten his receptionist pregnant.
Those selling their pregnancy tests make it clear they won’t ask questions about what the tests will be used for.
Skimming Craigslist, you can see positive pregnancy tests are up for sale across the country. The asking prices vary from seller to seller.
