Pregnant teen wins lawsuit against parents trying to force abortion

The Texas teen that sued her parents to keep the right to give birth to her baby has won her lawsuit reports ABC News on Feb. 19. The 16-year-old girl's attorneys were able to get her a long term injunction against her parents so that she can give birth to the baby. Currently the girl is 10 weeks pregnant.

As part of the court judgement, the girl will be allowed to use her car that her parents previously took away for school, work, and medical appointments. Her parents had previously taken her car away in hopes of boring her into an abortion, making her feel trapped at home. According to court documents, the girl's parents also pulled her from school and had her get two jobs instead to support herself.

The judgement also states that the parents will be responsible for half of the hospital bill when she gives birth unless she is married to the baby's father by the time of birth. Many people that have read the story disagree with making the parents pay for half of the bill since it is the pregnant teen's decision to carry the baby to term.

The parents were attempting to coerce or force the teen into getting an abortion, and the father also made the claim that it was his decision and he was taking her to have it done. There was never a mention as to whether the teen was planning to keep the child or give it up for adoption.

The girl's attorneys are very proud of her for standing up to her parents as they have put her in a tight spot. Obviously, she doesn't want to upset them or go against their word s they are her parents, however, they are stomping on her constitutional rights to have the choice to keep the baby or have an abortion. Regardless of how anyone feels about the situation, it is still the girl's right to choose whether she give birth or not, regardless of her age.
