Kim Kardashian is scaling back on her rigorous gym workouts as she progresses into her pregnancy. Kardashian says being pregnant is a lot harder than she expected, and has been resting more to stave off fatigue as she and her baby grow bigger.
"Being pregnant is not as easy as my sister made it look or as my mom has made it look," Kim told E! "I like to be active, but I've been chilling out. I took a week off just to rest, and it was amazing."
Kardashian, who's in her second trimester, hasn't been having many pregnancy cravings, and prefers raw carrots with ranch dressing over chocolate and sweets.
Kim, 32, suffered a miscarriage scare last week, reportedly due to excessive exercise. Still, she maintains a regular workout program that includes the treadmill and elliptical trainer.
"Burning calories and staying super-slim isn't the goal," says her trainer, Gunnar Peterson. "It's all about the baby first, and we want a healthy baby. There's no need to be that aggressive at this stage.
"With somebody like Kim, she's got a lot of things going on, and she has to allocate her energy accordingly. She can't blow it all in the gym and then not be able to move the rest of the day, so as the trainer, I have to temper that."
