This week is National Infertility Awareness Week (April 24 – May 1, 2010). All week I'm looking at different aspects of infertility. It's something that impacts the pregnancy hopes of one out of every six couples each year.
Today's topic: It can take quite a while for any woman to get pregnant. So when should women/men become worried about their fertility?
Infertility consultant Mindy Berkson, founder of Lotus Blossom Consulting, says, "Conception is not always immediate especially for women who delay childbearing. Delayed childbearing seems to be the biggest culprit of infertility as more and more women focus on their careers, or just wait until “the perfect one” comes along."
"In fact, by the time a woman reaches the age of 30, over 90 percent of her eggs have been depleted from her body. If you are older than 33 and have been trying to conceive for longer than six months, it is a good idea to seek an opinion and diagnostic testing from a Reproductive Endocrinologist," she adds.
