Harry Potter devotees have known for some time now that the final bookish film adaptation of the seven book series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be split into two movies, with the first movie planned for release on November 19th, 2010 and the concluding movie to be released July 15th, 2011. What Potter-heads don't know, is where the split in the two movies will occur and whether or not the book's epilogue will be included, and, if so, how it will be filmed.
In an interview with Empire, the film's producer, David Heyman, dropped a few clues as to where the storyline will be split for the two films. Mr. Heyman says:
We've played around with a couple of places and ultimately settled on a place that we think is very exciting, and I think quite bold, in that it's not necessarily where one might expect. You want to give a sense of completion, on one hand, but that there's another piece, more to come.
We tried one and then Steve [Kloves, screenwriter] came up with the idea to try it another way and when we tried that, it just felt right.
Daniel Radcliffe (a.k.a. The Boy Who Lived) added that the split between the two movies takes place "at a very tense cliffhanger."
Speculation about just exactly which tense cliffhanger Mr. Radcliffe is referring to is rife. I offer here 5 predictions for the conclusion of The Deathly Hallows Part I and the beginning of The Deathly Hallows Part II.
The Book Examiner's top 5 predictions on where the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie split will occur
**SPOILER ALERT**SPOILER ALERT**SPOILER ALERT**SPOILER ALERT**SPOILER ALERT**SPOILER ALERT**

1. After Ron leaves Harry and Hermione
Talk about a cliffhanger. This would give the first part of The Deathly Hallows movie a sort of breaking-of-the-fellowship, Empire Strikes Back dark feel. The only problem with this scenario is that it leaves a hell of a lot of the book to plow through in the final movie.
2. After Ron returns to Harry and Hermione and destroys the locket
Tense and dark, but uplifting in a kind of "Yeah, together we can do this!' kind of way. This would also give nice foreshadowing for the battle yet to come, since both films would conclude focusing on the struggles and sacrifices of Harry's friends.
3. The escape from Gringotts
How could busting in (and then out of, accompanied by a dragon) the safest place in the wizarding world not be a nice end point for the first film? Since the second part would then pick up pretty much at the beginning of the battle of Hogwarts, this would make two tidy movies.
4. The battle at Malfoy Manor and the death of Dobby
Spliting the story here has some obvious advantages: for one thing, it would end at a high point, both visually and emotionally; also, it leaves enough exciting bits to fill out the second half.
5. At Xenophilius Lovegood's house
The chapters that deal with Ron, Hermione, and Harry at Mr. Lovegood's house (chapters 20 and 21), fall smack dab in the center of the book. While I think the above spots would be better choices, this wouldn't be too shabby a place to end Part I, since it would end (before the Death Eaters make their surprise appearance) with Harry, Ron, and Hermione finally grasping what the Deathly Hallows are and their significance in the quest for the Horcruxes.
While both Mr. Heyman and Mr. Radcliffe seem pleased as punch with the location of the split between the two parts of the Deathly Hallows, the decision about how to film the book's epilogue seems much less certain. Mr. Heyman has discussed using a computerized visual technique, such as that used in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. However, Mr. Radcliffe was less than enthusiastic about this plan:
I am nervous about that, because if it's good I'll be really, really pleased; if it's not good and that's what people are left with, that would be awful.
If it's a choice between having me, Rupert and Emma looking a bit stupid and it being slightly comical or having other actors play us, I would go for other actors every time.
What say you, Potter-heads? Where do you think the Deathly Hallows split will be? And what about the epilogue? Should it be filmed with visual age progression techniques or with older actors as stand-ins? Let us know: leave a comment below.

I think it'll be either after Ron returns and they destroy the locket, or after they visit Xeno's house and learn of the Hallows and escape the attack there.
I used to be a fan of splitting at Dobby's death, but I think Dobby's death would be better in the second half after it opens with excitement with Malfoy Manor.
I don't care where they split it, and the epilogue should not be filmed at ALL. The less seen of that fan-fiction level rubbish, the better.
After Dobby's death is the perfect place in my opinion, and it sets up the next adventure (breaking into Gringotts) perfectly.
I think it'll be when Greyback and the rest of the snatchers are about to take them to Malfoy Manor. Leaves the heroes in serious danger and the second will open with all the action at Malfoy manor.
I have a feeling it will be either after Godric's Hallow(which, in my opinion, will be great, because it draws attention to that most emotional scene in the book) Or after they break out of Gringotts(The dragon flying away in the distance, while the setting sun casts a golden glow similar to that seen in the endshot of the Goblet of Fire- what's not to love?
After 'The Silver Doe.' It's the middle in so many ways.
I was on IMDB.com and I noticed that Alan Rickman isn't signed up for the second part of the Book/Movie...I didn't know what that meant for the split?
I absolutely want to see the epilogue. The characters are only in their 30's, so I don't think it would be that outrageous for them to play themselves. People have been looking forward to that type of ending.
i just have this vision in my head saying that the split will happen right at the end of chapter 20 when harry expresses his curiosity about what the sign is and "Xenophilius raised his eyebrows. 'are you referring to the sign of the deathly hallows?'" i mean wouldnt that just be epic? i think that is a total cliffhanger and that would be such a climactic ending
I was just re-reading the Hallows trying to figure out where the split would be and I think the best possible place would be after they escape from the Lovegood's. It would be an awesome place to end, leaving us with Harry, Hermione, and Ron disapparating. I love Sam Barker's idea too though! That would be an epic ending.
#1.Ron saves Harry and destroys the locket and go to meet Hermione and Harry's like,'There's someone here.'And Ron appears.
#2.After Dobby gets killed and Harry buries him and stares into the sky.......LOL
I think it should be after the scene at the Malfoy's. It would end with a bang, but leave the viewers wanting to know what they're going to do next. Maybe even take it all the way after Harry buries Dobby and right up to the point where Harry has to decide between horcruxes and hallows. But end the movie right before his decision is revealed.
As much as I would love to sit through the whole final chapter as one movie, if I had to chose it would be just when Greyback captures them and they learn they will be taken to mallfoys. settin up the heroic resque and death of Dobbie.
Ive just read the whole book and as a student in film making I believe that the split point and aka the cliff hanger should be at the end of chapter 24 The Wandmaker.
Why?
1. You find out that that the elder wand is buried with dumbledore.
2.Harry potter mind linked with voldemort which give him the vision that voldamort has the wand taken from dumbledors tomb at hogwarts.
3. However the wand will not work properly for voldamort because of the wand law.. which states it can only work with the person who took the wand from the previous owner by death or force.
Which could either be snape or draco who are the true keepers of the wand.
Then the cliff hanger is so..
Ron & hermione and potter realise they may need 2 travel back to hogwarts which hasnt really been the main focus in the first movie.
Also Harry now has possession of the real sword which destroyed the locket horcrux and that the fake sword lies within the Lestranges Vault..learnt frm the vault goblin sh

Also Harry now has possession of the real sword which destroyed the locket horcrux and that the fake sword lies within the Lestranges Vault..learnt frm the vault goblin shown in trailer!
I was thinking that It would be best if they end with Harry saying that Voldemort already has the wand. Then they can kind of skip over the planning and reopen where they are getting ready to go off to Gringotts.....
There's a break in time in ch 17 Bathilda's Secret, where they went to find out some history from Bathilda, but she's really dead and turns out to be a snake/Voldemort. There's a period of time that passes between Harry and Hermione's escape and Harry waking up in the tent that would be a good break from one movie to the next.
I think the Dobby one or the escape from Gringotts (just speaking from the choices listed above) would be more likely. In the promos for the 1st half they actually shove the scene where Xeno's house is being attacked by the death eaters so that wouldn't be it (unless it ends after?). After Ron leaves the other two in the woods seems way too soon since all they've been doing is hopping around the woods on the run, so that won't be much to film. After Ron destroys the locket also seems too soon considering a LOT of time will be given to the Hogwarts battle scenes and Harry defeating V. Those are just my thoughts about those. Then again they said it would be unexpected where they put the split so maybe it will be right where there is an intense moment and then it will just end. But it WILL be at some point AFTER Xeno's house is attacked, unless they just show it being swarmed by the Death Eaters and they end it there?
