Predators defeat Flames 5-3 Thursday

There is a strong possibility that American country music star Carrie Underwood was a happy woman last night.

Not only did she perform in Richmond, Virginia, but her husband, Mike Fisher, the Nashville Predators centre scored two goals in a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames.

On Underwood's twitter account, she stated, "twas a great night indeed!...back home the hubby scored TWO goals!"

The Predators also had a strong night from Martin Erat (one goal and two assists), while defencemen Roman Josi and Kevin Klein had two assists each. Klein and rookie defenceman Victor Bartley of Ottawa, Ontario were each a +3.

The Flames lost despite notching two shorthanded goals in the first period from Mark Giordano and Blake Comeau.

The work does not get any easier for the Flames as they will play the all of a sudden red hot Columbus Blue Jackets in the second game of a back-to-back tonight. Currently the Flames are six points back of the San Jose Sharks for a playoff spot.
