Precognition: The ability to see the future

Bangor area residents have a growing interest in precognition and other paranormal topics. According to Cambridge Dictionaries Online (2011), precognition is knowledge of a future event, especially when this comes from a direct message to the mind, such as in a dream, rather than by reason.

Precognition usually occurs when in the form of a dream while a person is sleeping. Sometimes, it can happen when the person is awake. In this case, precognition happens in small bursts of images. At times, this ability comes in the form of auditory hallucinations or can be induced when the person is in a trance state. The last two ways the future events show themselves are not as common as the first.

When a person receives an image, the event usually happens shortly after. However, it is not always the case. Sometimes the event doesn’t happen for months or years. The events that are seen or heard, are usually tragic such as; accidents, deaths, and natural disasters.

Many people believe that the events that are seen during a precognitive vision are going to happen and there is nothing that can be done to change what will happen. Others believe that the events are based on current circumstances. The events can change depending on choices that the people involved in the event make.

Precognition is one of the most common psychic abilities. Many people claim to have precognitive visions. This ability seems to be hereditary. The biggest sign that a person has this ability is having multiple dreams of future events that come true. There are tests that can be done to find out if a person has the ability to see the future.
