So of course this Christian TV Examiner is writing this after tears have fallen, watching a new video sneak peek preview of tonight’s Preachers of LA episode, wherein Pastor Jay Haizlip and First Lady Christy Haizlip pray with a 50-year-old anorexic woman named DJ who told them she has thought about taking her own life.
The pastor and his wife were in a Los Angeles park and Christy cried to her husband about not finding a good girlfriend that she can trust yet.
“You could think someone is your friend but in reality they're judging you and wind up hurting you. It's not even that they drain me, Jay, they're not good friends,” she said, obviously having someone specific or hurtful experiences already in mind.
She’s apparently had disingenuous friends interested in her position as the pastor's wife, she explained. Here’s hoping and praying she perhaps meets another great friend who is also a pastor’s wife – because we all know how great it is to have great friends.
I'm sorry, it breaks my heart, Pastor Jay says in response, but then they spy a super-skinny woman who is beset by problems.
“You should minister to her,” Christy whispers to Pastor Jay, and he does.
“Yes, I'm going through panic and anxiety attacks,” the woman says.
Pastor Jay asks if she’s ever called out to the Christ. She says yes, she often says, “Jesus, please help me. I thought I was going to commit suicide.”
“Committing suicide would be the worse thing you could ever do,” the pastor says, asking, “Let me pray for you DJ.”
Help her, he beseeches. “Lord Jesus, heal my heart. Heal my life. Help me,” she prays.
Should be another great episode this Wednesday night at 10 p.m. ET, perhaps calming down the super-saints on Twitter that should be glad that POLA is finally calling on the name of the Messiah amongst the church mess.
