Acclaimed comedian and Muslim personality Preacher Moss will be MCing the Official Muslim American Inaugural Benefit Gala in Washington D.C. this weekend.
The purpose of the gala is to commemorate the positive achievements of President Obama's first term and highlight the many contributions of Muslim Americans to the nation and world.
The event will include a buffet of international and american cuisine, a dessert bar, entertainment, spoken word artists, opportunities to meet senior federal and local officials, networking with lawyers, health care professionals, tech executives, engineers, religious leaders, activists, educators, social workers, environmentalists, co-housing leaders, parents, and students.
A number of political leaders and organizations, such as Congressman Keith Ellison and DC Green Health, have showed their support of the gala and plan to be in attendance on January 20th.
Last November the sponsoring organization, Muslim American Presidential Inaugural Committee or MAPIC, issued a mass calling for American Muslim resumes in order to pool them for consideration for employ with the government and in the Capitol.
Beneficiary proceeds of the gala include America's Islamic Heritage Museum, DC Green Health - Builders of “Green” Medical Center, Islamic Relief and the Muslim Journal Newspaper.
