Part of the trouble in setting and reaching goals is not knowing what you want. By pre-planning your goals, you set yourself up for greater success because you know what you want the most and why you want it. If your only motivation for earning $10,000 more this year than last year is that it sounds like a nice round number, you're less likely to achieve that goal than if that is the magic number to allow you to pay off your debt and begin to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
When you look at your work from home business and the goals you have for the coming year, it's important to examine all the facets of what you want and how to get there. Your goal might be to have a total revenue of $50,000 for the year. Great goal- do you have any idea as to what it will take to get there? How many jobs do you need to do and at what price? Can you achieve that goal without sacrificing other important areas in your life? When you're setting goals for your business, it's important to look at all the goals for your life and make sure they're congruous.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself to get started:
1.What do I want to accomplish?
2.What matters most?
3.How will this bring me closer towards my long-term goals?
4.Do I have all the equipment or information I need?
5.What does success in this area look like to me?
6.What are steps needed to reach this goal?
It's also helpful to take a personal inventory of your values and desires to get on the right track for goal-setting. If you're looking for a simple questionnaire, this is a good one in terms of a holistic look at your life and where you need to be. Many of the questions can easily be adapted for your home business. Take the time to do some pre-planning, or if you've already set your goals for the year, do it anyway and see how your goals align. The more you understand what you want, why you want it, and how you'll get there, the easier it will be to achieve success in the coming year.
