The Jersey Shore Running Club held its 20th annual Pre - Father’s Day race in the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township on Saturday, June 7, 2014.
The sun shined bright on the runners for the 9a.m. start near the Wanamassa School. The runners made their way through the tree lined streets and then returned back to a finish in front of the school.
The first runners to complete the 5K course was Dave Rosenblatt of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township in a time of 16;34. For the women the first to break the tape was Meagan Drapkin of brick in a time of18:39.
The first police officers or “Top Cops” were Chris Roman in a time of 26:29 and for the women Maggie Freeman of Manalapan in 20:18. The first father was Lee Marconi in a time of 20:37.
Other top finishers included: Matt Aurie of Ocean in 18:28, Grace Wells of Oakhurst 21:52, Tom Flannery of Manasquan in 16:36, Laura Alvaado of Ocean in 26:28, Sam Fromkinn of Ocean in 17:18, Lauren Pringle of Tinton Falls in 21:22, Tom Dolan of Avon in 23:15, Jessica Pillar of Interlaken in 23:46, TJ Frabizio of Ocean in 22:11, Sophia Borratham of Brooklyn in 29:91, Ed Alburtus in 21:56, Karen Kelly of Oceanport in 24:39, Mark Weston-Dodd of Ocean in 22:24, Barnbara Donalaik of Middletown in 24:41, Chick Albers of Hazlet in 24:27.
The first father-Son team was TJ and Matt Frabizio. The first Father – Daughter team was Ted and Maggie Freeman. The first family team was the Pringle Family with 10 members.
After the 5K kid’s races were held at various distances.
Awards were presented to the top finishers, age group and special categories after the races.
Runners were treated to a post race party and barbecue on the school grounds after the race.
