"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed," (James 5:16).
One of the great values of the internet is the speed and scope with which it can be used to pray for one another. I received a comment from yesterday's post about anxiety from a friend who is fighting a serious disease. I immediately prayed for him. I also received a number of responses from friends who prayed for me about the heaviness I was experiencing. By afternoon I was experiencing a great deal of relief. Thanks to all of you who prayed.
Praying for my friend brought to mind this verse in James. "Pray for one another so that you may be healed." It made me want to pray for many of you and for you to pray for me. So let's do a little experiment today and pray for each other. When you read this, pray for me, and respond either in "comments" or on Facebook and ask me to pray for you. It can be a general request or something specific you need prayer for. You don't need to confess your sins to me. Do that with someone you trust and know.
Praying for one another is a great way to show love and grow in love for each other. When we know the needs in each other's lives the Spirit gives us compassion for each other. When that compassion is expressed in prayer it generates love. If the need is something we can help with tangibly, responding in action as well as prayer further builds our love for one another. Today, send me your prayer needs. I will pray for you. Put a "P" on your hand, and when you see it, pray for someone. Pray for me. God bless!
