Prayer walk through your house

Often there is word of the local church gathering for a prayer walk.  This is when a group of people meet and walk together through neighborhoods praying as they go for the Lord to bless the people, meet their needs, keep them safe, and whatever else might be on their hearts.  Sometimes as the prayer walkers go through the streets, they see folks out in their yards and might strike up a conversation that then leads to praying for that specific family.  

A great scene in the movie Facing The Giants was when a man walked the empty halls of the high school and asked the Lord to bless the students.  He ran his praying hands along the lockers and prayed a silent prayer between him and God as he casually strolled the linoleum floors.  You knew this was something he did often and that he poured his heart out as he went.

Why not prayer walk through your own halls?  Try walking through your own home and seeing what God lays on your heart to pray about.

Towards the end of the school year I honestly gave up on our girls making their beds before school.  So I started doing it for them and as I did I started my own version of my prayer walk through my house.  I prayed for them at school and their safety.  Some days it got as deep as praying forward for their future husbands and children.  It was whatever was in my heart and of our world that day.  Each girl's bed was made and I was able to cover them in prayer.  Some days the prayer walk continued through the hall and into all the rooms.   Over the summer this routine didn't happen as often.  Now that school is back, I found myself quickly back into my prayer walk.  Find your own walk.  Maybe your best time is when you go into their rooms to check that everyone is in bed.  Take the time to combine your prayers with walking through your home.   Give it a try and feel the peace of protection that comes in a different way than our normal sitting still prayers. 

I used to want them to see me making their beds and feel like they should do it themselves but now I sort of hope that they keep the rest of their room clean but save the bed making to me.
