Pray on the Nat'l Day of Prayer America ...or feel God's wrath!

There's a storm gathering America; it's a storm of biblical proportions and it's about to come down on all our heads if we don't pray on the National Day of Prayer this year. That, apparently, is the message in the new 2011 theme video from the National Day of Prayer Task Force.

It's a video with great production values too; as slickly done as anything coming out of Hollywood. It even has the look and feel of a movie trailer. Storm clouds fraught with internal fire quickly gather over farms, churches, homes and Washington's Capitol dome. Ominous choir music builds in volume and intensity as messages flash across the scene:

"WHAT IF WE DON'T RESPOND TO THE CALL FOR PRAYER?"

"WHAT IF WE FORGOT THE GOD OF OUR FATHERS?"

"WHAT IF WE DIDN'T CARE?"

Then, just as the tension becomes unendurable, there is a break in the roiling clouds. Images of churches and people praying appear and a new message flashes across the screen:

"THERE IS HOPE... IN PRAYER!"

"JOIN WITH MILLIONS IN PRAYER"

"NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER"

"05.05.2011"

So get down on your knobby little knees America, and try to stave off the divine threat on the National Day of Prayer with your humble importunities. Perhaps He will listen and withhold His Hand because, as you all know, He loves you.

"The mission of the National Day of Prayer Task Force is to mobilize prayer in America and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in the culture." (from the NDPTF mission statement)

While the NDPTF doesn't mind prayers from other faiths, they are specifically interested in promoting only one type of prayer (as witness no synagogues, mosques or temples appearing in the video):

"The National Day of Prayer Task Force was a creation of the National Prayer Committee for the expressed purpose of organizing and promoting prayer observances conforming to a Judeo-Christian system of values."

For those in the Los Angeles area (or anywhere else) who wish to be publicly seen beseeching God on the National Day of Prayer, May 5, 2011, the NDPTF provides a prayer gathering event finder for you.
