No one truly knows the need for good office furniture like a college student. As it is the bane of any student's existence (that and the library), it is imperative to choose a collection that will meet both your study and personal needs. What better a designer for such a collection than (actual) students from the infamous Pratt Institute.
The collaboration between West Elm and Pratt Institute, both Brooklyn-based organizations, began as a friendly competition between two groups of Pratt industrial design students. They were challenged to create a line of office furniture for West Elm that embodied the brand's mandate to "live a little greener everyday." - Pratt Institute
So how did all of this come about? Initially, the modern furniture brand offered a challenge to some of the college students (via the Pratt Design Incubator). The challenge: to create a line of home office furniture using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) wood. The result: the perfect pairing of minimalism and modernity. Though the collection is limited, every piece offers versatility, sustainability, and good design.
